WISECP releases Free License
#1
Hello everybody,

WISECP software, which is a billing platform for web hosting industry has released a free version.
That is actually great because now small business can make the use of it, without paying anything.

However, there is a limit in free license, which is 25 clients limit, but all other features are fully included, just like premium license.

Wait whut? WiseCP is actually the new billing manager as what BoxBilling and THT was, is there any limits for then or? Do you use them @Lampard?

I saw this and was thinking to post it as well, but I'm happy someone beat me to it.

One thing I noticed in the system requirements is Ioncube which comes with a free 2 week trial; so if I'm understanding this correctly you can't use WISECP entirely for free.

@fitkoh I always thought ioncube was free. I've been installing it with VestaCP for free as a prerequisite for using Softaculous with VestaCP. Is the premium a recent development?

You may be right. I think more information is required on the WISECP requirements. It states Ioncube as a requirement, but it doesn't state what Ioncube product is required. Are all of them required?

From Ioncube, they have:
*PHP Encoder https://www.ioncube.com/php_encoder.php?page=pricing
*Package Foundry https://www.ioncube.com/ipf/
*Bundler https://www.ioncube.com/bundler/
*Loader https://www.ioncube.com/loaders.php

The only one which doesn't come with a price tag is the loader.

Softaculous specifies that it requires the Ioncube loader: https://www.softaculous.com/docs/admin/i...in-cpanel/

@fitkoh I haven't used WISECP at all, so I'm not as knowledgeable. I think you're correct as Softaculous was using ioncube loader. Maybe the ioncube for WISCECP is different and premium. I still need to work through it to check it out.

It would be interesting if there is going to be an indirect cost of WISECP by needing to have a license for some of its parts.

So I guess the proof is in the pudding. One has to try it out first.

I'm working on this now. I'll edit this post with my results. Uploading setup files now. My interest was piqued when I saw they had a module for cyberpanel integration.

[edit]
After uploading the setup files, I was missing 2 requirements from a standard cyberpanel install: ioncube & mod_rewrite. No problem to enable mod_rewrite in cyberpanel, so I set about installing ioncube.

I followed this tutorial here: https://idroot.us/install-ioncube-loader-ubuntu-20-04/ making a small modification to use php7.3 rather than 7.4

I verified that ioncube loader is installed with ~$: php - v

Zend Engine v3.3.23, Copyright (c) 1998-2018 Zend Technologies
with the ionCube PHP Loader + ionCube24 v10.4.5, Copyright (c) 2002-2020, by ionCube Ltd.
with Zend OPcache v7.3.23-1+focal, Copyright (c) 1999-2018, by Zend Technologies

But the wisecp install is still listing  ioncube as a missing requirement. I don't know if this a bug or if it requires an ioncube component other than the loader.

I tried WiseCP, and tried being a developer for it, but just couldn't get into it, to me seems like a clone of WHMCS and sadly that is more of the same for me, plus with WHMCS everything was encoded with Ioncube and that is the same with WiseCP and since there docs wasn't as good as WHMCS is, to be able to build stuff for it, I just couldn't move forward with it, while I like the owned lifetime license with free forever license idea(which is the license I purchased for WiseCP originally for $400-$500) when I thought about doing modules/code/etc for it, like I do for WHMCS/Blesta like I said I can tell you it just feels like a WHMCS copy, and I don't know if I can see myself doing anything with it, especially development wise at the moment because of the lack of docs, everything encoded so even if there was no docs for it, since it is encoded you cannot find out for yourself how to do things for it. So it was pushed to the backburner and this doesn't come as a surprise by me considering this.

Wow it's really cool to see WiseCP releasing a free version of their control panel. I have used the panel before and it's freaking awesome. I'll surely grab a license before it's too late. Thanks for the heads up @Lampard!
Sayan Bhattacharyya,

Heartiest thanks to Post4VPS and Virmach for my wonderful VPS 9!

How I didn't have ever seen this site. And how does this company provide their service for free? You are the manufacturer of this company?@Lampard
