Well I don't use CDN. There are advantages as well as disadvantages of using CDN. For examples I prefer images load from my own domain that way there is a better change my images rank in Google image search.

But having a good hosting provider helps a lot. Also having a server near your audience helps a lot too.

Latency in website doesnt affect as much as game server . You dont need that low latency like competitive gaming but lower latency still translate to faster page load on website espescially without cdn

Cdn doesnt cache all files and sometime it is slower because need to go to tunnel but once cached it is much faster

Well when you say latency yeah it doesn't effect lot compared to a game server. But that doesn't mean it doesn't and I like to plug all holes. CDN problem is not cache but the image urls. These urls effect SEO.

look . Web speed is very important for a webmaster. For example, a visitor in Google opens several sites and if first site opened he close other sites . and other sites lose some visitors and seo rank .
cloudflare set 60 site in a dns and ip(host) and its bad for website speed . its only my opinion but CDN and cloudflare for USA and Canada and country's near america is good

i dont really know much about seo espescially the image part so for that reason cdn isnt a great option but for people that doesnt care about image seo or other thing that cdn make it worse it is a still great way to make website faster and less server load

These are not exactly fixable problems. There are ways but not easy or practical. CDN is great for sites with lots of pics are stuff loading true. But there is an SEO downside. Its ok for those branded sites which don't care about Google ranks. For smaller sites, you need to first take a look and figure if the site really need it or not.

If possible try to defer loading below the fold images as well as javaScript which is not immediately used. This will load the above the fold part of the landing page very quickly and then continue to load other parts after the page has already loaded up. In general, the load time of the above the fold website should be less than 1 second.

If you use Chrome, you can get an extension such as "Page load time" which shows the load time.

Also, another thing which can greatly speed up a website is using automatic caching. This allows the browser to cache the data but also allow the server side to cache the data of that page to improve loading. In IIS, it is something like below:

I'm currently using a VPS for hosting my website and I'm also using LiteSpeed Web Server Enterprise. It's a very good web server that have a lot of features to speed up your site and it also have DDoS protection. LiteSpeed Web Server Enterprise now also have a Free Starter license for 1 domain so you can use it if you have one website. I'm also using Cloudflare as a CDN.

There is also a way to significantly speed up your site and it's easy to implement if you have enough control over your server (if you're using a VPS or dedicated). It's enabling Keep-Alive. You can enable it just by adding a line to your Apache configuration file. When you enable Keep-Alive, the server is like saying to the client "You may get many files here", so if a page has dozens of files like image, JS etc. the client can grab all the files in a request and not need to send many requests to grab individual files, increasing performance. But you must decide before enabling Keep-Alive because Keep-Alive use somewhat more RAM.

As for a 100% WordPress user, Something I have discovered recently is, using certain themes can make a big difference in speed. These days I'm slowly moving my WordPress sites to Elementor page builder. I have started using Astra as my main theme. This theme is really fast compared to many other themes I use in my WP sites.

Myself a WordPress user so I agree with @xdude. You should consider using lightweight and nicely written themes. To generalize, use the popular things. They are well-written and well-maintained, and less vulnerable to backdoors and such attacks.

A couple of things to suggest in this. You should use the least amount of plug-ins possible. Don't use JetPack and Woocommerce plug-ins unless your running a store. They multiply the load 3x times.

Also, do not use a plugin for "http to https redirect", it's as simple as adding three lines in the htaccess file. Keep your WordPress installation as clean and as light as possible.

Next use compressions like GZip, and preferably you could take advantage of Cloudflare's powerful caching.


These are few simple techniques using which you can keep your WordPress installation fast and secure.
