Vpn provider can get data from you just like what isp does . By using free vpn you are hiding from isp but not from the vpn provider so your data isnt as secure as you think . Espescially i see most free vpn advertise security . Security my ass

Well it's been working fine for me to bypass a school filter I'm behind when at school.  At least they don't really know who is browsing with the account, my school knows who's using what, but it doesn't really matter anyway for me...

I know that HMA had a case about logs.

Could you tell me more about the PIA case?

PIA has proven twice in court that it had no logs and therefore couldn't provide any information when it asked to do so by police and authorities.

I usually got to hear about it on TF first:
- https://torrentfreak.com/private-interne...rt-180606/ (recent case)
- https://torrentfreak.com/vpn-providers-n...se-160312/ (previous case)

VanishIP sold out and provided information although they claimed that they don't log information: https://torrentfreak.com/ipvanish-no-log...er-180505/

Not a big issue for me.

Actually I only use Windscribe for normal browsing only. Just never use any free VPN services for transferring sensitive information (such as credit card) then it should be fine.

technically your 'sensitive information' or almost any information since almost all website are https is already encrypted by the HTTPS protocol that green padlock that you see in the left corner in your browser . that what makes isp cannot capture the https data but they still can see what site you accessed

with vpn isp doesnt know that site your accesed because your internet traffic is tunelled and encrypted through vpn . what your isp know is only that you connect to vpn but now the vpn know the data that your isp supossed to have . there are counters to https like man in the middle attack for example but that is only possible if the VPN company ask you to install a certificate that bascically let they decrypt your https data so it just like http overall

about credit card that isnt their pirority what they want is your data about your browsing history , location to sell it to advertiser
