True. I'm a bit confused though about the concept of a "free" TLD domain. How could it ever be free? Like even if you got a free domain initially, you still have to get ownership of it if it's really going to be your domain. I only think a domain belongs to a person if one has control of the panel of the domain so one can add or delete name servers to it. If one doesn't have that control, it's not really a "free" domain. It's a domain on temporary loan - and a very insecure loan with a real possibility one may lose it at the renewal stage. Maybe another person will get it for you - and before you know it they may want to sell it. Also, usually when a domain is transferred into someone else's name there is a cost associated with the transfer of the domain. And once the renewal comes up one has to pay for the renewal.
Why go through any of that if one can get a cheap domain from Namecheap and control and manage it oneself.
