I'm a bit confused though about the concept of a "free" TLD domain. How could it ever be free? Like even if you got a free domain initially, you still have to get ownership of it if it's really going to be your domain. I only think a domain belongs to a person if one has control of the panel of the domain so one can add or delete name servers to it. If one doesn't have that control, it's not really a "free" domain. It's a domain on temporary loan - and a very insecure loan with a real possibility one may lose it at the renewal stage. Maybe another person will get it for you - and before you know it they may want to sell it. Also, usually when a domain is transferred into someone else's name there is a cost associated with the transfer of the domain. And once the renewal comes up one has to pay for the renewal.
