More likely the bottom of the laptop. However the number that one needs for the Dell SupportAssist to work unless I'm mistaken can't be found externally - one has to extract it from the laptop. It is a unique 7-digit Serial Number. You get the number by typing the command line below into the cmd.exe of the computer/laptop:
