technically your 'sensitive information' or almost any information since almost all website are https is already encrypted by the HTTPS protocol that green padlock that you see in the left corner in your browser . that what makes isp cannot capture the https data but they still can see what site you accessed
with vpn isp doesnt know that site your accesed because your internet traffic is tunelled and encrypted through vpn . what your isp know is only that you connect to vpn but now the vpn know the data that your isp supossed to have . there are counters to https like man in the middle attack for example but that is only possible if the VPN company ask you to install a certificate that bascically let they decrypt your https data so it just like http overall
about credit card that isnt their pirority what they want is your data about your browsing history , location to sell it to advertiser
