with the help of guides here and google I have moved a mybb forum to a new site.
here i the steps i followed.
1. backed up the mysql database from phpmyadmin.
2. created a new database and imported the old database.
3. installed the new mybb (same version) with a dummy database.
4. in the config file entered the new database details.
