TLS Handshake delay and how to get desktop view back when it goes to mobile?
#1
I picked up a major issue with Gigarocket tonight and am getting paranoid now.  When I'm in post4vps.com also I get a long delay when trying to access a page - it comes up with a TLS Handshake in the status bar:
Quote:Performing a TLS Handshake to stackpath.bootstrap.com
Is there any significance in the delay?  I get this with both Chrome and Google and tried it on my laptop and the business center of the hotel desktop computer.  All attempts were made on the same network.  I'll try with a different network tomorrow.

Could there be a filter process going on that is creating this problem?

With GigaRocket I got an even longer delay with:

Quote:Performing a TLS Handshake to maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com

Then the real headache with GigaRocket (not post4vps) is it comes up with a mobile view and a very inefficient one.  Whatever I click on drags for ages and also goes a further step with a message in the bottom address line about secure login.  The handshake takes for ever to conclude.

Took a lot of patience - I then checked my GigaRocket User CP and everything is what it should be.  Is there anything else I can do to get the desktop view of  GigaRocket Forum back?

Note:  The above is specific to Firefox browser.  When I use Google Chrome then instead of handshake it comes up with:

Quote:Establishing secure connection

The delay is equal to the one of Firefox.

Did some further research.  Looks as though this has to do with browser vs self-signed certificates.  There is some loop pile up if one can call it.  It is a browser issue though.  Both Google Chrome and Firefox.  Once I got into it there are plenty frustrated users.  Doing all kinds of solutions some of them working and some not.

I did a few things and in the end one worked - but not sure for how long.

I started with completely deleting Firefox Browser.  Everything.  Then reinstalling Firefox.  Then checked and the problem was still there.  Could be when I thought I'd deleted everything that the profile I had with Firefox wasn't deleted.  At any rate, that didn't work for me.

There was also a suggestion to delete the files cert8 and cert9 in the profile.  One does that by running: %appdata%, selecting Mozilla, then Firefox, then profile, and then deleting the cert files.  Firefox will then recreate this when it is up again.  In my case it didn't take an immediate effect, but somehow seemed to have helped.  Problem is gone for now.

Other solution that also is recommended is to go into the FF options.  Then click on the network proxy settings and select "Auto-detect proxy settings for this network" (the default is "Use system proxy settings").  Hopefully that isn't going to create a problem for me later.

Thank you to Post4VPS and VirMach for my awesome VPS 9!
