Not to mention that not everyone would test new software with their VPS, run updates, or have interesting resources to share etc EVERY MONTH.

if you don't run updates at least once a month that's a pretty sad state of affairs.

At the very least you should do security updates for your OS once a month. Otherwise you can put yourself in a very bad spot.
