Every forum have different plugin requirements and needs like for a market place forum most recommended plugin is NewPoints and for community forum myawards is the second other then newpoints in recommendation.

I wholly agree with what TrK said, it depends. Community forums ABSOLUTELY require NewPoints and MyBB GoMobile (the TrK modified version).

Well I have never used points plugin. Not all forums need a point system. But All forum must have one or several anti spam plugins. I use

01. Stop Forum Spam
02. Akismet
03. Registration Security Question

plugins for that. also several other plugins used in past are,

01. My Advertisements
02. Recent Posts Forum Index
03. Thank You/Like System
04. User Homepage Control

What are the spam control plugins you guys use for myBB ????

MyBB already have some strong security features to stop spam like security questions, captcha, mail blocking(to block temp email domains like mail.ru) and much more features they also have stopforumspam integration just need to enable and setup them correctly.
