Add a domain is exactly as it says. Except to clarify, one has to get the domain oneself, it isn't provided to you by Limitlesshosting. You can get a free domain at dot.tk, or purchase a domain at a Registrar like Namecheap. Once you've purchased the domain or got it for free at dot.tk, you go into your Registrar Account with the domain to change the name servers to the name servers Limitlesshosting provides to you so that the domains will point to the Limitless hosting account. Once you ADD ON the domain through the cpanel dashboard, then it automatically creates a directory for the new domain, and when you work with the websites associated with that domain, you need to build it in the root of that domain. Previously cpanel used to have all of the add on domains in the public_html but now they have their own directories in cpanel.
With most hosts there is a limitation on how many domains you may add to your cpanel that will vary according to the specifications and value of the hosting plan.
If you don't have your own domain, then the host can give you a free sub-domain of his own domains. He may (or may not) offer it to you during the sign up process. Your sub-domain will then look something like name.hostdomain.com and that will be registered as your primary domain for that hosting account. You can create your own sub-domains of that sub-domain. It's not recommended that you do this for serious Websites as you will get much better propagation of DNS when you have your own domain as your primary domain. Having a free sub-domain like that is probably OK for if you're going to use the domain for testing or personal use, but if you're serious, domains are so cheap these days, it's easy to purchase one, or to get a free one from Freenom.com.
To add a sub-domain of your own domain means you're adding it to a domain you already have in your cpanel. CPanel allows you do do so in the domain dashboard. You just click on sub-domains and it will then ask you for the domain you want to create a sub-domain for and it will do it for you.
Working with domains in cpanel these days is the best ever. Most cpanel systems these days have self signed certificates automatically added when you add on a domain. If not, you can ask the host to do it for you.
