Top Reputed Members
#1
Hey!

I think we should add a section where people can see the top most reputed members of the community. This will allow members to see who is on the top and on what position they are currently on.
This also creates a sense of willingness in community members to post quality posts and earn reputation, hence a possible chance to increase quality posts. This is because I mainly think that quality posts give up most of the readers a will to rate that user accordingly.

So after implementation of this feature, there are higher chances that people may start posting quality credits which will ultimately benefit the community.

Looking forward to responses from community members and staff.

For reference, MyBB has a plugin for that. Here is the link.

Thank you Smile

UPDATE:-
I have another suggestion. If anyone who gives false reputation(mostly by fake accounts) should be punished and there should be a system where to give reputation, one must have 15+ post count.

We already have such plugin https://community.mybb.com/mods.php?action=view&pid=269
We only using 1 feature of this plugin which is "{$topStats['LastActiveThreads']}" (Right sidebar at homepage)

Great idea, but i'm not in support of this idea, Post4VPS community users ain't sell anything so it meaningless to add such thing BUT it will make forum look prettier.

But yeah we can use this as monthly contest or something.

I wonder why do you even have to "sell" something off from reputation suggestion thread?

There already rank groups, And you can see reputation in postbit profile. Vote I'm just neutral. But yeah it useful for contest all we need to add "{$topStats['Reputation']}" to index file or make separate page for it.

Let see opinion of other members.

I don't have too many ideas for reputation!
But for the idea of placing top reputation on the main page of the forum is a good idea! Because people who have a high reputation are likely the ones who help most often!

I almost never give any reputation to others. I get a reputation, but I didn't give it back to whoever gives the reputation to me :p.

Anyway, what's the actual point of "top reputed members"? I don't see any actual reason why we should have that one. But, I think we can give some bonus to the member. Any additional suggestion?
Thanks to Limitless Hosting and Post4VPS for providing me excellent VPS 13!

@Manal. We already have the reputation tool - and I use it often, like obviously the members with the higher credit points in reputation must be more reputable. So are those with names in orange, green, deep blue or brown. And we have quality credits that are a direct reflection of the quality contribution of the member.

I'm not much in favour of making a list of a group of "reputable" members and publish them separately somewhere.  I don't like there to be too much fuss about some members over others, more than what we have through our current group system.  Obviously the sponsors are our VIPs and are treated as VIPs.  And you can't miss the sponsors - they stand right out.  Then there are our VPS holders, and we can't miss them either - there is a list of VPS holders as well.  For me they are very reputable.  They worked hard to make the posts so they could compete for a VPS.  And they then won a VPS and may participate in the next Giveaway again to keep the process energetic and on the go.  For me they are the life blood of post4vps as they have to make 20 posts every month to keep the Forum active. Then we also have our technical specialists, and they stand out in their great works and super quality responses.

Furthermore, I can't see how a list of "more equal" members would motivate the "less equal" members to make more quality posts.  Like if they are excluded from any group, then maybe when they are excluded they won't feel a sense of loyalty and community and may only want to post for the VPS and get it over with.  However, if they were treated as one with the community regardless of being a sponsor, vps holder, owner or staff, or elite member, then maybe they will be more motivated to post for post4vps.  They will feel a pride and loyalty to post4vps.

What we should do actually is promote the rep point system and explain the use of number of posts and quality credits during the Giveaway more regularly.  For example I discovered with the last Giveaway that not all members know that the competition looks at the number of posts and quality credits when the VPSs are allocated - those with the highest quality credits win the better VPSs.   For me that in its own right should be a major incentive for a post4vps member to want to make quality posts.

Thank you to Post4VPS and VirMach for my awesome VPS 9!

Great idea @Manal. I am agree with this. But arsal and deanhills are also right at their opinions. There should be atleast a page for the top members list where forum will show top rated member, top posting etc.I don't think that it will increase chance of quilty posts.Because members who don't post quilty post to support Post4VPS will never post.I feel sad for them ( including myself ).

Thanks to Post4VPS and Hostlease for their great services.

I first liked what Manal had to say. But then I am totally won over by dean there. Yes...togetherness and solidarity and pride..."my community" "our forum"..

If you guys want a rep ranking, then may be you can request Admins to add a reputations column in mfmbers page. that might be a simpler , better and unobtrusive solution.
Sincere Thanks to VirMach for my VPS9. Also many thanks to Shadow Hosting and cubedata for the experiences I had with their VPSs.
