Problem with this tutorial is, It lacks information hard to find about installing and configuring VestaCP. This you can find anywhere including the official website. But it's hard to find some configuration options. Like How do I use MariaDB instead of mySQL ? How do I configure full DNS records including reverse DNS ? How do I upgrade PHP to version 7 ? etc.

Well if you don't have several websites or using servers just to play around I completely agree nobody needs a control panel. But there is a reason why control panels are out there and there is reason why people even willing to pay money for those. Even insane monthly fees. If you have several websites with traffic you would know how royally suck terminals are. Also how risking using it. That's why people who have production level websites always use a control panel. It save time a lot and time is money for them. Also it's lot easy to manage and you can let others to work without risking anything. Of course I'm not talking about anyone using a vps for one hobby websites which get no traffic. Shared hosting is there for them still not need to mess with terminal.

I have started using servers because I had no choice but to put my sites on a vps. My sites got too big for shared hosting or providers wouldn't want me in shared servers. First I didn't want to spend money for managed vps with cPanel and everything and didn't want to learn all about installing and managing a control panel. So my idea was also ssh is the best thing, easy, fast and free. But I learned it hard it that's not the case if you have high traffic sites and you need to let others to manage these things.

Anyway received I had to move to a new vps at Freevps.us which had only 512MB RAM without any SWAP. So sadly I couldn't use my favorite panel Virtualmin. The nest best thing is VestaCP which I installed. But I still have bunch of problems to sort out. It's been almost 6 years I used VestaCP last time. But I have to say interface looks very nice and neat now. Also easy to use so I do like it. Still it doesn't give you all the functionality like Virtualmin but it's pretty good.

Well the problem with solid free hosting control panels like VirtualMin or VestaCP is Installing and configuring can be a bitch to a new user. I must had installed Virtualmin 20-30 times before figuring out every thing. Once you passed that phrase you are going to have a smooth ride long term. Now I have back using VestaCP and Still I think I ll need to install is several times before figuring out how to do it properly and configuring the server to optimum conditions.

I think Plesk is a paid panel and pretty expensive for no reason.
