Monthly post counter problem
#1
Hello,

It seems there is a problem with the monthly post counter recently.

Before this post, I should have made 10 valid posts in this month already. But the monthly post counter shows I have only 7.

This looks weird. Hope @@Dynamo can have a look into it. Thanks.

I approve it!
I should have gotten 16 but still 11 maybe there might be changes to the script?

I suggest you guys just count it from your posts log under your profile. Then see if that number matches the count we all see under names.
May be there were some removal or something. you know. One liners or lame replies.

I do not see any issues with post count. Though I never count or track that much.
Sincere Thanks to VirMach for my VPS9. Also many thanks to Shadow Hosting and cubedata for the experiences I had with their VPSs.

@tryp4vps i manually count your posts of the February month from 1st February till now you've posts 11 posts but i confirmed 10 because Offtopic board's posts doesn't count. maybe this board "Suggestions and Feedback" also doesn't count but if it doesn't then your current post should be 7 not 8.

I did count it manually before I made this thread. I also do not believe @chanalku91 could know he made exactly 16 posts if he did not count the same way.

There was no removal of my posts. The closest thing was that there was a thread split occurred earlier that might screw up the counter. Who knows. But that post is still there and not removed, so I doubt if it is actually the reason.

Thanks @arsalahmed786 for checking. Smile

My understanding the one in Offtopic should also be counted, because it is not inside the Introduction/Test/Junk subforums.

If those in "Suggestions and Feedback" are not counted, it would be a big change in rule that I never heard of it.

EDIT: This post is counted. So, it appears the system does count my posts in this "Suggestions and Feedback" broad.

@tryp4vps is correct. There is a discrepancy - am sure @Dynamo will fix our profiles when he sees this thread.

I checked our Lazy Admin record, and even this one isn't completely up to date, although I'm sure @chanalku91 will be happy to see it.  So please don't take the content of the Lazy Admin Counter as accurate until Dynamo has had a chance to investigate this.  Ironically my profile says I made 46 posts, but the Lazy Admin Counter says 41 posts. Not that it really worries me. Only worry is the profiles - I'm sure it's a myBB thing and fortunately Dynamo is a specialist, he'll know immediately what went wrong and where.

Hello,
On having a quick glance I can try to guess the causes of this problem:
1. There might be some actions taken like, at first there were 2 different posts and later on they got merged,
2. There might be splitting of posts after posting.
3. After posting to a forum where postcount is not counted, the post/thread got transferred to a forum where postcount was enabled or wise versa.

Initially I thought these situations would hardly occur / user get affected.
That's why didn't thought of making it complex.

But it appears now I need to modify if it's actually happened because of those above reasons.

But a deeper investigation is required before that.
I will try my best to look into this as soon as possible, Since I would be having my final exams, it's very tough to arrange such time.

Hope till take time it could be manually adjusted.

Aha! I'm indeed guilty here.  For example there was someone advertising a VPS service who posted three posts in succession and I then merged them.

If I may ask @Dynamo, myBB used to in the past automatically merge posts when they were made within X minutes of one another.  Although I guess that won't solve it, as merging is merging, but was wondering what happened as currently even if I make a second post within a minute of the first, it still gets posted as a separate post.  When it happened to me in a thread where I had three responses, I also had to merge them into one post.

And yes.  I did a lot of splitting of posts from a Feedback Thread that had add on suggestions made.

And yes, I have moved threads around.  I remember a support thread that was asking about a non-support related issue.

Good finding. It sounds as if some of "your" 46 posts were possibly not made by you and the monthly post counter still counts them as yours. Interesting. Smile

Anyway, no need to feel guilty.

In fact, merging or splitting threads are sometimes necessary for forum management. You have actually done a great job doing so.

I too see some issues with this feature, even posting in hardware section the posts didn't count, I see lazy admin counter may be correct, because today morning I saw 9 posts as number of post in my postbit, but seeing deanhills post and snapshot of lazyadmin I completed 10 psts on 17th. Is there any old working post counter using the post counter script?

Thank you  Sweet
