Best Linux alternative for Windows - how does Linux Mint rate?

The YouTube Tutorials I've been working through have been on Linux Mint Cinnamon. It definitely looks doable. And must say although they referred to Ubuntu, particularly with the last upgrade to Version 20, the installation feels pretty much like Windows. Minus an avalanche of updates. I get the feeling of less attributes, but greater simplicity and security as a result.
