yeah. i use hdd share from my router or computer when on phone. but writing / copying is slow and pita. usb otg much faster. also it would be great if there were an android app that would provide on ram userspace virtual space that other apps could use as normal storage and this app could mount network storage and handle the data transaction without using internal flash drive. would be cool.

ram userspace? ramdisk? the problem is that most android phone have low amount of ram and the os itself it kinda bloated so much that even the os itself eat like 75% of the ram . ramdisk isnt worth it on android phone

and for the speed transferring through network with ftp , smb , etc have overhead on the server/client and also the wifi speed . but sometime the speed is limited by your phone storage / sd card speed that using usb doesnt make it any faster . i get this problem recently when backing up my phone with the speed using ftp over wifi and mtp over usb almost same. usb do faster on sequential but random is little bit slower for some reason
