I always preferred Intel against AMD, but since Intel has this security and performance issue then I'd rather buy an AMD CPU in 2018.

Yes, single core performance is important for games right now. But in the future, games will lean on multi core systems as single core performance aren't really improving today.
The few FPS lost on slightly slower single core perf is worth it since you will be able to run apps in the background without impacting your games. (Streaming? Discord? Browsers? etc.)

What you said is completely false. AMD isn't only good for games with heavy graphics. It's mostly the work of the GPU.
As for normal usage, there wouldn't be any real world differences between the AMD's and Intel's latest CPUs. Who cares about the 9% IPC difference if you're just browsing the web right?
As for gaming, the difference is so low :3
