I noticed some issues yesterday stateside, but it was weird issues with Gmail not wanting to sync my calendar with Apple Calendar and then Maps were a bit wonky for a few hours.
I'm still having issues with email deliverability.

I spent a couple hours trying to fix sendmail yesterday (which is how I found out gmail was down, and what inspired this topic) and I'm still having some issues. It's very erratic and irregular. Apparently I can send (some) emails now, and I can receive (some) emails, but my web server still isn't able to send to google: I found this error in server logs which seem to confirm that the problem isn't on my endSadI don't really know how what it all means, but I know what "service unnavailable"" is.)

I can confirm that sendmail is working to hotmail and yahoo: more evidence that this is not a problem on my end.

I should try things out with my mail server. You could possibly be blacklisted with google, I will check things out and report back.
Thank you to CubeData and Posts4VPS for the services of VPS 8.

I'll admit it's possible I'm blacklisted but I don't think so. 2 days ago I was able to send mails fine. Also the IP was clean when I got it and I don't think I've abused it; So unless I was blacklisted very recently (which I can't imagine why) it should be fine.

[edit] I ran a check on hetrixtools and it shows everything unlisted.

Yeah I just checked mine and my mail went through to two different Gmail accounts without issue. Try rebooting your server and checking the greylisting on your server.

I tried rebooting: that didn't help.

I confess I have no idea what greylisting is or how to check it. Every article I looked at was like a small novel.

If anyone's interested, here's a copy of my error logs (edited for security)

I also (just in case) whitelisted my domain in my inbox. Still no success. However, from what I'm readin I'm not the only one experiencing this. Some reports of people in OH not receiving/sending any emails for 3 days, and a lot of reports consistent with what I'm seeing: very inconsistent deliverability; some emails are received, some are sent with very little rhyme or reason to it. It makes troubleshooting/diagnosing a problem very frustrating.

I also scooped up a few neat images with a current indication of google's outtages from downdetector.com:

Aha.  That explains then why I haven't had any issues (so far?), I'm on the southern tip of Africa. Thanks for posting the map @fitkoh. I'm never at ease however.  As this remote setup is not necessarily beneficial.  Being remote is always equal to suspicious to Google's security system.  I'm living in fear most of the time that Google will lock me out of my account, EVEN when I'm using the same device.  To travel (which I haven't done in a year) is a nightmare, except if to North America. Undecided
Terminal
Thank you to Post4VPS and VirMach for my awesome VPS 9!

@sagher, well i think we are in same reigon.I am from Pakistan as you. I am doing uploads daily almost 10 hours but never faced any downtime problem with youtube. Everything works fine for me.I am always doing work on youtube from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM Pakistan time but its always very well. Yeah something is surely happened with Google/Youtube. 3 Months ago i was having a total of 200 subscribers per day and $7 plus revenue. In the end of August it suddenly fall down to a maximum of 15 subscribers and views from 100k to 3k. and it is still same. These are some common problems but i never faced any downtime. If you face downtime, it maybe a problem in your data network.

Thanks to Post4VPS and Hostlease for their great services.

I think at this point at my location everything google related is working.. I eventually got frustrated trying to figure out sendmail, and set up free smtp for my forums through mailjet. Ironically, after I set up smtp, sendmail started working. My blog on the server was never set up for smtp and email started working, so I know it wasn't an issue with sendmail config. Although it could have had something to do with dns: maybe the txt entries I placed to use mailjet made google feel more comfortable with accepting mail, or maybe google just finally came back on line.
