So the last week I had a project which meant I had to move some of my WordPress sites from one VPS to another. There were five Websites involved and the move should have taken me an hour or a little more to do. Except, it took up to a few days instead trying to troubleshoot a broken database.

A major hurdle turned out to be one of my oldest WordPress sites. When I move a WP site I use the All In One WP Migration Plugin to create backups after every change. So usually it's quick and easy. I create a new WP installation at the destination site. Then import the backup. With the old Website it is the first time ever that my backup had a critical issue with the database. Thing is this only happened with this very old WordPress site. The other sites that had old WP themes were OK, but the site that had the critical database issue was a very old theme called Tetris.

Took quite a while for me to figure out that the reason was php 8.0. I then picked up on a warning by WordPress to be careful not to use php 8.0 as there seems to be conflicts with some of the themes and plugins. They are investigating this.

Introduction
I'm not a VPS 10 Holder, however thought to check it out and provide our members with a brief overview of the VPS.  In summary it is not a bad VPS at all.  The fact that it originates from a Hetzner server impresses me for sure.  Speed and performance wise it is slightly (very slightly) better than VPS 1 with similar specs.  Difference is that according to one of our members @Khadeer143, VPS 10 can be used as a small games server however with the emphasis on small.  Another member tried VPS 10 for Teamspeak but it didn't work as smoothly and had to be dropped.  Location of VPS is Helsinki, Finland.

VPS Sponsor
Evolution Host has been providing us with two VPSs and a Virtualizor Panel for a few years, until two years ago when the Plan was reduced to one VPS (possibly due to lack of use). Evolution Host is a premium VPS Hosting provider specializing in games servers and a variety of other software.

VPS 1 Plan Specifications
vCPU: 1
Disk Space: 50 GB
RAM: 1 GB
IP Addresses: 1x IPv4 & /112 IPv6
Virtualization: KVM
Monthly Traffic: 1 TB
Location:  Gravelines, France
Control Panel: Virtualizor
Connection: 125 Mbit/s
Provided by: Evolution-Host
Terms: TOS
Games servers: OK
Requirements: Backlinks to Evolution-Host and Post4VPS are required when a Website is hosted.

Network, Performance & Reliability
For some or other reason VPS 10 has not been used that much by members of Post4VPS, particularly over the last two years it has been barely used. So there is not enough feedback really to create a justifiable review of the VPS.  However one of our Games enthusiasts at Post4VPS thought it was a great little VPS for a small Games Server and had it for a few months during 2020.  @Khadeer143as lucky in that he was able to win a free VPS from Evolution Host and since then has only had good things to say about Evolution Host's above average expertise in Games Servers.  Their support to him has been excellent.

I'm not sure whether Evolution Host still runs its special free VPS program however if members are interested you could check their Website or you could check the offer at Lowendbox:
https://lowendbox.com/blog/evolution-hos...o-qualify/

One of our members also tried VPS 10 for Teamspeak.  And that was not entirely successful.

I didn't have time to do much with the VPS, however the little I worked with it today, compared with VPS 1 it felt slightly faster (only slightly though).  This is shown in the speed results below as well.

Conclusion
VPS 10 may be a good little VPS to use for a very small Games Server.  I cannot vouch for this though as Khadeer143 was the only member who has used the VPS for Games in the last three years.  Another member tried Teamspeak and it didn't work that well, so I'd say for more complicated settings, maybe this is not a good VPS to use.  I'd only use it for simple Websites.

We've been trying to ask Evolution Host for replacing the Plan with two Games Servers.  Regrettably there hasn't been a response yet, so we may try again soon.

Note of Appreciation to Sponsor
We wish to extend a special note of appreciation to Evolution Host for providing our membership with years of continued sponsorship of VPS 10.

Introduction
I'm not a VPS 1 Holder, however thought to check it out and provide our members with a brief overview of the VPS.  In summary it is not a bad VPS at all.  Particulatly when one compares it with VPS 9 that I'm used to. From the moment I started to work with VPS 1 in its Virtualizor Panel, I realized that Host4Fun is keeping the panel up to date - the templates were up to date.  What is attractive about this VPS is of course the User Panel that the VPS Holder gets so one can reinstall the OS if one needs to do that.  One can also boot and reboot the VPS, check out disk and bandwidth use but not much more than that.  VPS 1 also comes with VNC access.  Location of the VPS is France.

VPS Sponsor
Post4vps is indebted to Host4Fun for the very long duration it has supported us.  It has been providing us with six VPSs with very generous specs and a great Admin Panel. Host4Fun offers cheap and budget web hosting and VPS services from 25+ Global Locations and 36+ Datacenters.

VPS 1 Plan Specifications
vCPU: 1
Disk Space: 100 GB
RAM: 1 GB RAM
IP Addresses: 1x IPv4
Virtualization: KVM
Monthly Traffic: 1 TB
Location:  Roubaix, France
Control Panel: Virtualizor
Connection: 1 GBit/s
Games servers: Allowed
Provided by: Host4Fun
Terms: TOS
Requirements: Backlinks to Host4Fun and Post4VPS are required when a Website is hosted. And a sig backlink

Network, Performance & Reliability
From feedback from previous VPS holders, performance and reliability of VPS 1 is very good.  We very rarely have needed to submit any tickets except in the case of using VPS 1 as a Games Server.  Although Host4Fun says it's OK to use VPS 1 for a Games Server, members have experienced repetitive Firewall issues that couldn't be solved by the sponsor.  So regrettably we have had to advise our members not to use VPS 1 as a Games Server.

One of our members also tried VPS 1 for Teamspeak.  And that was not entirely successful either.  So maybe the way Firewall works with Host4Fun it's not an ideal VPS for scripts that require Firewall to be set up to deal with it.

For regular use however, this VPS is great.  I loaded some WordPress sites on it.  And speed is completely acceptable.  Fast by normal standards, just a little less fast than VPS 9.  So I can recommend it for regular use.

Conclusion
As previously mentioned VPS 1 is a very good VPS.  Specs are great for regular straight up and down Websites or blogs.  However, as soon as it gets more involved where the Firewall ports need to be opened up, there may be issues.  So the VPS is not recommended for use as a Games Server or for Teamspeak or similar projects.

Note of Appreciation to Sponsor
We wish to extend a special note of appreciation to Host4Fun for providing our membership with years of continued sponsorship of VPS 1.

So I just get my hand back to Wordpress to redesign my client's website. They usually have a banner that celebrate holidays, so I think I'm going to put that up in a pop up instead. I used Popup Maker, it's awesome and free. I cannot afford to pay USD 35 for a popup maker that specialized in Divi, so I found this and it's free and I'm happy now.

So then, after getting my first popup on air, I get a new problem. This still related to that popup since I setup the popup to not reopen multiple times for the same user. We must have ask user if they agree for us to track them. I found a plugin that do that for us: https://wordpress.org/plugins/complianz-gdpr/

I'm going to have my hand in this plugin soon. What do you guys think? Do you have ever find this plugin or other plugin that does similar things?

Following members still have missing posts for April.  Gentle reminder.  April only has 30 days.  So tomorrow is the last day.  Looks like @sohamb03 will have to do his marathon run again with bulk quality posts. Since we are running short of quality VPSs his VPS would be much sought after. Tongue

VPS Holders with missing posts:
NONE!  Thanks to all the VPS Holders for completing their number of posts!   Cool

As per usual and for those who aren't in the know.  The missing posts rule is strictly enforced by @Dynamo.  Posts have to be made before the end of the last day of the month GMT time.  Failing which the VPS will be powered down.  If you still want to keep the VPS you will have the opportunity to reapply during the Giveaway that immediately follows after the penalty.  Provided you have 100 credit points spare, your Forum account and VPS Holder eligibility are in good standing, and you have applied for the VPS, your VPS will be returned to you in the same condition as it was before it was powered down.  Please note that should you choose to "dump" the VPS (without prior notification) and then return in a few months or years time and apply for a VPS, this will still be remembered and the penalty will still apply.

I have been a long-time user of Google Chrome and I have noticed slowness and a bit of freezing for a while now. It has happened in Windows 7 and It still happens in Windows 10. It doesn't freeze anymore but slowness is still there. Now You get Mircosoft Edge long with Windows 10 and I noticed it's faster and works pretty well. It's definitely by miles improved over old Internet Explorer. Also, they have plugins and pretty must most of the stuff you have in the Chrome app store.

Anyone here uses MS Edge for a while? How's your experience?

Sad news indeed.  Our much treasured VPS 14 from Bladenode has been cancelled with effect of the end of April.  Bladenode is experiencing high demand and needs the space.  @phoenixwolfowever says that should an opportunity arise in future, that he may be able to provide us with a VPS again.  This is good news indeed.

We would like to extend our warm appreciation to Bladenode and to Phoenix for the excellent VPS we were able to use for a few months.  We also wish to thank him for his excellent support during that period of time.

Wishing Bladenode everything of the best.  And a speedy return in future, if and when an opportunity presents itself again.  Hopefully we will still see you in the Forum Phoenix.  Your participation is always appreciated.

I just got to the forum and wanted to introduce myself. For a long time I have been looking for forums related to free web hosting, but the truth is that it is difficult to find any interesting one.

I found this forum in the search engine, and when I saw it I thought: "I think I could learn a lot here and maybe find a good web host as well".

I am very interested in learning, and I hope at some point I can contribute something to this community.

Many regards to everybody.

Error 43
YEP... if you own a NVIDIA GPU and you use Virtual Machines it is very probably that you meet this error. If not, don't worry I will explain what it mean.

Do you know what is a virtual machine? No?
Well, you can think about as a sandbox, you can run a Operation System inside that sandbox and do whatever you want, like dangerous experiements without damaging your real Operation System. IT PROTECTS YOUR OPERATION SYSTEM, NOT YOU. IF YOU DO SOMETHING DANGEROUS/ILLEGAL INSIDE A VIRTUAL MACHINE... YOU ARE STILL TRACKABLE.

So let's immagine you are running a virtual machine, for this example you have a Linux Machine and you are running a Windows VM, and you want to do a GPU-intensive workload such as gaming (Linux Host that doesn't work well with wine) or video rendering (using specific software such as Premiere PRo).

You will soon discover that you can passthrough your GPU, while installing the NVIDIA drivers or on device manager you will see the "Error 43" and the gpu-device shutdown. What doesn't mean passthrough? Well, you are linking your GPU to the VM so it can use the video card full power.

NVIDIA on the past introduced a check on their CONSUMER products to block this features because they wanted it exclusively for their enterprise cards such as QUADRO.

BUT: Recently NVIDIA announced the enabling of this feature again on our consumer cards on the newest beta drivers!

NVIDIA BLESSING
Should we be happy? I mean this feature was already there and blocked at once on the past... so we are just receiving back what we had.

What do you think?
