Every year a lot of smartphones are released, most of them get a international edition but sometimes there are very good edition limited to a specific market. Why they do that?
For example recently OnePlus announces its OnePlus series 9 phones:
Another example are the Samsung esotic colors, on China and Korea has been reported the availability of RED and PINK variants of their phones over the times, they just get released a bit later than their international variants.
What differences between a international phone and a region-specific region are:
If I like RED color why I should be unable to get it? Only because I am not chinese/korean? It is crazy.
For example recently OnePlus announces its OnePlus series 9 phones:
- One Plus 9, international availability
- One Plus 9Pro, international availability
- One Plus 9R, india exclusive
Another example are the Samsung esotic colors, on China and Korea has been reported the availability of RED and PINK variants of their phones over the times, they just get released a bit later than their international variants.
What differences between a international phone and a region-specific region are:
- CSC partition, they can be adjusted buy flashing the international ROM
- Modem LTE frequencies, nowadays we almost uses all of the available, except for some China frequences
If I like RED color why I should be unable to get it? Only because I am not chinese/korean? It is crazy.

Here we go again, reviewing the VPS 14 sponsored by BladeNode (@phoenixwolf). Why a second review? Well, VPS 14 has changed it's node, you can read the official announcement here. There isn't much to talk about, I am doing the same usage as ever. I just switched my OS from a debian-based (Debian 10 Buster) to a rhel-based (Fedora 33).

My experience
=========================
The migration added a lot of new stuff speaking of performance:- A slightly powerful CPU, on real world tasks the change is unnoticeable to be fair but the CPU physically changed so I must report it!
- 5GB more of SWAP, the VPS jumped from 1GB to 6GB of swap memory ssd-based... with the already equipped 8GB of ram and you get powerful combination of 14GB!
- Storage technology changed from HDD to SSD, it should do a huge improvements but as you can see from the I/O operations the speed is likely the same, previous location was running a RAID configuration to get the best performance out of standard HDD. I think that running heavy process that works with file the SSD will do the difference.
- The networks speeds according to me are the same, on the benchmark there are some slow connection but I think it is related to that specific moment, maybe it was busy? The VPS is still amazing fast with its 1GBit connection.
![Tongue Tongue](https://post4vps.com/images/emoji/tongue2.png)
I am doing very well with Fedora, some feature pre-installed are a bit a blotware but they are easily removable, such as cockpit... I have never used it because I am a CLI guy and I don't give any trust to "static" control panel that just run blindly commands.
Another change I have made is switching from nginx to caddy2, an amazing web server that auto-manage the SSL certificate with a very easy to understand configuration.
Regarding my usage... it is still unchanged, you can read it on my first review.
=========================
Conclusion
=========================
Before the migrations, VPS 14 was an amazing VPS. After the migration and the my issue ticket I can clearly say that my experience with @phoenixwolf's BladeNode is superior to my previous sponsor Virmach. They are both amazing company that offer a super service but with Bladenode I received a better "care". I remember the old days when I got a DDoS attack and virmarch's ticket response was a bit vague or slow. Nothing like this happen with bladenode ![Smile Smile](https://post4vps.com/images/emoji/smile.png)
I still think very high about Virmach... they took from me a very huge DDoS load and they didn't complain, their network just kept up my VPS. I hope that I will never give the same experience to Bladenode, I am working very hard with Cloudflare firewall and protection on it!
Like always, I want to end this review thanking:
- @Dynamo, as always, for creating Post4VPS community that allowed me to use this VPS;
- @deanhills, this time I opened a support ticket and he replied very fast!;
- @Mashiro for his tutorials, I used some of them to set-up my environment;
- Bladenode (@phoenixwolf) for sponsoring this amazing VPS and his amazing support, he "closed" my issue ticket in less that 1 day doing also some "extra" work is not pre-configured;
Following @phoenixwolf announce about VPS 14 migration, the VPS Plans page has not been updated yet!
The migrations introduced the following news:
The migrations introduced the following news:
- Location: Chicago US
- Storage: 200GB SSD

2018 was a wonderful hosting year, a lot happened, there are many stories to be told and we will look back. With a number of new hosting companies in 2018, including HostLease that has been reopened with a new owner. New sponsors were also added to Post4VPS and a number that had disappeared. VPS-Hosting.ca the old VPS 3 and 6 were theirs, also Rocketrix had suddenly disappeared, with the last being GalaxyHostPlus in the beginning with the end of VPS 7. April 9, 2018 ABC-Hosters came into the spotlight with a great VPS . And in December went VPSLices.
Welcome to the annual overview of 2019, a year with a beautiful moment, and a year with annoying moments, but a year that will stay with us anyway. To start on March 15 with gloomy news with the passing of Charley Whitening, active in Formula 1 for years but in recent years as race leader, @deanhills was also signed up as the new giveaway manager, @Manal also went crazy with his VPS, he changed his Disk Space from 100GB to 300GB HDD. Of course, HostLease did not leave behind the Sponsor of VPS 15 either, HostLease had given a new VPS 16 a year later. @Manal was forced to switch its hosting service because the contract agreement with HostLease had not gone well. But knowing @Manal, we had no worries, in fact, he had grown quickly towards this switch in his company and can call himself very successful, because not long after that he also came up with new VPS 4, which was stimulated to the VPS industry once again. Also this VPS from Shadowhosting.net was a big one with a thick 300GB Disk Space HDD. After a failure of a few days, VPS 15 and 16 was back again, eventually the disk space was upgraded from 20GB to 40GB, on July 24th ABC-Hosters also came back with their VPS 3, on the same day VPS 17 came back. Hostlease was also included, this VPS was a completely different VPS than its predecessors, it also became massively used mainly for game servers, of course they were happy with this. Unfortunately, there was a report that due to Dutch legislation that ID card had to be given to the providers, of course HostLease did not agree with this and ultimately won the case law. Also came VPS18 and at the back where everyone looked strange about the specs, only they found the disk space low. VPS18-2 was also added later. @Manal saw that HostLease was working hard on improving their VPSes, Shadowhosting of course has special power and one of the best service! So they drilled 10GB of RAM into their VPS and were ultimately the winner with the best specs. Of course Hostlease wanted to compete again, that's why the new VPS 16 with 200GB SSD, and 12GB RAM beat @ Manal's VPS'es but after a year hostlease had to give in to @Manal from Shadowhosting with their fantastic UPHOLD, finally Hostdoc came back in picture but unfortunately with sad news, they had to close their doors due to an unknown case but we were very pleased with them.
Welcome to the annual overview of 2020 had gigantic annoying moments but also a few beautiful moments. On March 13 the Corona virus entered the world worldwide. Many companies were hit with this, unfortunately 2020 was a very disappointing year, Post4VPS was also hit hard by the Corona it seemed. Many VPS providers had pulled themselves out of the race, which was very annoying. HostDoc, ShadowHosting, ABC-Hosters, HostLease, Bladenode and SSDBlaze. All these companies no longer had a vision of the future at Post4VPS, so many sponsors had disappeared. Fortunately, there were also 3 new VPS providers to keep Post4VPS alive. Racknerd, ReadyDedis and limitlesshost. Cubedata and Bladenode were not that easy to get rid of, because a lot of sponsors had left, these new providers / current providers had free rein in Post4VPS, this was of course excellent news for Post4VPS. It was also discussed that cPanel adapted their revenue model, so that many providers switched to DirectAdmin to reduce costs. There were also a lot less free hosting providers, I have made a list here with the reliable hosting providers where you can claim free hosting and who their provider is or whether they have their own servers.
List FREE HOSTING.
- Blade node - 99% Trusted and verified. DirectAdmin
- HostPoco - 96% Trusted and verified. cPanel
- LNB Hosting - 98% Trusted and verified. DirectAdmin
- 000webhost - 75% Trusted but not verified. (Custom Panel)

On Friday, March 19, 2021, at 5:30 pm EST. I am going to be moving the VPS 14 over to one of our newer servers. Once the VPS has been migrated the server will have Full NVMe SSD Storage. VPS 14 will be moved over to Chicago, USA, and will get a new IP Address. I will update this thread once the migration hs been completed.
Migration has been completed. There is no data loss. Enjoy the new fast speeds!

A free & self-hosted DNS sinkhole Adblocker
Many of you may already know AdGuard as a application for Android and iOS to block advertising and other bad stuff on your Android or iOS device via a local VPN or proxy on the device itself. It has a limited free version and a premium version based on subscription / licenses per device with much more features and configuration abilities. It is by far one of the best and most popular Adblockers for mobile devices.
Some of you may also have heard of a free and open source project called Pi-Hole that allows you block advertising and other stuff on DNS level by sending the request to a DNS sinkhole (0.0.0.0). Pi-Hole has become very popular as a self-hosted application for the Raspberry Pi but can also be hosted on any other normal Linux VPS. You bascially run your own local DNS server that blocks domains that are serving advertising on websites or other bad sites (spam, malware, etc.).
Now mix together AdGuard and Pi-Hole: you get AdGuard Home. AdGuard Home is (as the title says) a free, open source and self-hosted DNS sinkhole Adblocker by the makers of the AdGuard app. It can be compared to Pi-Hole as it basically uses the same concept to block advertising as Pi-Hole. However AdGuard Home comes with more features onboard that aren't available with Pi-Hole or can only be installed additionally with a lot of hassle via SSH. AdGuard Home is based on the code of the AdGuard DNS server service.
AdGuard Home Features
- Choose what exactly will the server block or not block.
- Monitor your network activity.
- Add your own custom filtering rules.
- You are the only one who's in control of your own server.
- Blocking ads and trackers.
- Built-in DHCP server.
- HTTPS for the Admin interface.
- Encrypted DNS upstream servers (DNS-over-HTTPS, DNS-over-TLS, DNSCrypt).
- Cross-platform.
- Running as a DNS-over-HTTPS or DNS-over-TLS server.
- Blocking phishing and malware domains.
- Parental control (blocking adult domains).
- Force Safe search on search engines.
- Per-client (device) configuration.
- Access settings (choose who can use AGH DNS).
- Running without root privileges.
Text = Compared features are available with AdGuard Home but aren't available with Pi-Hole (can possibly be added by additional work, software and configuration via SSH).
Sadly DNS sinkhole based Adblockers always have a little downside:
Example: You cannot block advertising in Youtube videos. If you attempt to do so you will actually also block any Youtube video. No videos will play. Youtube will be broken. I tried this with Pi-Hole and it didn't work well at all. Nothing in Youtube worked.
Installation
You can easily install it on Linux or Mac with the command below:
If you prefer you can also install everything manually step by step: https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdGuardHo...ng-Started
Another very easy way to deploy AdGuard Home is by Docker: https://hub.docker.com/r/adguard/adguardhome
If you use Snap (e.g. Ubuntu Server) you can install it via the Snap Store: https://snapcraft.io/adguard-home

Sadly DNS sinkhole based Adblockers always have a little downside:
AdGuard Home GitHub Readme Wrote:Essentially, any advertising that shares a domain with content cannot be blocked by a DNS-level blocker.
Is there a chance to handle this in the future? DNS will never be enough to do this. Our only option is to use a content blocking proxy like what we do in the standalone AdGuard applications. We're going to bring this feature support to AdGuard Home in the future. Unfortunately, even in this case, there still will be cases when this won't be enough or would require quite complicated configuration.
Example: You cannot block advertising in Youtube videos. If you attempt to do so you will actually also block any Youtube video. No videos will play. Youtube will be broken. I tried this with Pi-Hole and it didn't work well at all. Nothing in Youtube worked.

This has been a very interesting shared hosting account to review. I've had many years of experience with shared hosting accounts however this is the first time I've looked at a free cpanel hosting with softaculous with only 200 MB disk space and 200 MB bandwidth. What made me curious was to see how far the disk space and bandwidth would take me and this is how far I got with it until I hit limits on the disk space and I was no longer able to access the WP blog due to exceeding the 200 MB Bandwidth limit. A first for me for sure as by usual shared hosting spec standards, I'm a minimalist with using resources.
Here are the specs for the free Hostpoco Lifetime Hosting Account:
200MB Web Space
200MB Bandwidth
2 Email Accounts
2 Sub Domains
FREE Auto SSL
DDOS Protection
99.99% uptime
Softacolous Supported
Tier 1 Technical Support
Before I hit the bandwidth limit I did the following:
1. I wanted to give the cPanel that comes with the account a good workout. So instead of using Softaculous I installed the WordPress script manually by uploading the script with the File Manager. That went very well, however I noticed that it took much longer to upload than what my experience usually is with cpanel. Possibly because of it being monitored. This was clearly a sign of using a good chunck of bandwidth.
2. Next I noticed that although the specs say Auto SSL, the capability was there in cPanel with Let's Encrypt, but it was not enabled when the account was set up as my experience with cpanel accounts usually is. It was actually very easy though to do this by just clicking on the SSL tab in cPanel, and maybe two other clicks and the SSL was completed. The option for Wildcard was dimmed, however I could enable SSL for sub-domains and cpanel as well.
3. Next I created a mySQL database and noticed that the specs forgot to mention one is only allowed one mySQL database. It was a classic cpanel database with creating a user as well and connecting the database with the user. That went as fast as always and I don't think it used that much bandwidth.
4. Following this I was able to create the site the classic manual way with entering the URL of the primary domain and following the usual WP Blog Create steps. It went fast as usual and I doubt it used that much bandwidth.
5. Next I cleaned up the empty WordPress blog of its pages, posts and plugins. Then loaded the All in One WP Migration plugin as well as plug extension as well as the Classic Editor plugin. I don't think that took lots of bandwidth, as it went very fast as it usually does.
6. I then used the All in One WP Migration plugin to import an exting WordPress blog that I was going to edit down and create a new blog out of. I used it as a template. This must have taken a chunk of bandwidth as the import went much slower than it usually does in my experience. It was successfully imported though.
7. Next I edited the blog, deleted a bunch of pages and posts, edited the menu. Also updated all of the plugins in the imported blog. I then took a backup as well and that took longer than what is in my experience indicating it was eating away at bandwidth.
8. A little while after I went back to create two new blog posts. Then when I tried to make a backup of the site, as I usually do after a change like this, it hit the 200 MB disk space limit. I then remembered that when one downloads a backup, a copy is stored on the Website as well. Once I had deleted the backup, I was able to create a fresh download and updated backup again.
9. Next morning when I tried to get up the blog it came up with a notice that I had exceeded the bandwidth limit. So the above was the sum total of bandwidth and disk space it took to get to its limits.
So in retrospect this is indeed an entry level mini account meaning the expectation is to wet one's appetite for the next level of hosting, which I think is well worth it at only 1$ a month. The entry level mini account gave me ample opportunity to try the hosting out and all of it rocked - more about this later.
In the meanwhile, back to hitting the hard disk and bandwidth limits. If any one else is going to use the Free Lifetime Hosting to create a WP blog, here are some suggestions for saving on the resources.
1. Use Softaculous in cPanel to create the WP blog.
2. Uploading files, importing and exporting eat bandwidth and add disk space. Use this minimally.
3. You can only create one mySQL Database
4. Although you are allowed two free sub domains, I'd advise against using this option due to minimal resources.
5. Ditto e-mail accounts. I don't think there are enough resources for having a full all round hosting account.
I was very impressed with the all over service though. Imagine GENUINE cPanel like we know it in its best up to date form, together with an equally up to date Softaculous. But that is not the only gems I came across.
When one applies for the Free Lifetime Hosting, one has to open a client account first. The features in the client area of that account rock. Initially I was concerned as although I had received plenty of well written e-mails to confirm my application, the service application was stuck as "pending" in the Dashboard of my Account. It was very easy though to submit a ticket through the support options of the Client Account. Alternatively I could also have checked with "chat". HostPoco definitely gets a 10/10 for options for support. I went the ticket route. At the time I submitted the ticket I was wondering whether the fact that the service had not been activated yet had to do with the service not existing at all. But was impressed when I received a response to my ticket within a few hours. Turned out after a number of back and forth messages between HostPoco and me, HostPoco is a conservative and hands-on host. Although most of everything is automated as with all other hosts, they take a very careful approach to those who qualify for the free hosting account. Turned out that MasterPoco left a number of things out of the post where he advertised the Free Lifetime service. Such as a review that needs to be written. Once that had been straightened out however, to my surprise, but also great curiosity to try it out, I received this tiny quality free cpanel with softaculous hosting account. And a cpanel that turned out to be state of the art, up to date, real mcCoy product.
So far my account and service hasn't been down, except of course blocked due to hitting the bandwidth limit. So uptime sofar is 10/10. Support far exceeded my expectations. I for example checked in at HostPoco and used their chat (available to registered account users only), to ask them where they wanted a review published. It was a great experience with a real person instead of the feeling of dealing with an exhausted person who doesn't care. There were no gaps in time in between messages and I never had to wait in between. There are people who care at HostPoco for sure. I was provided with the following URL for the review. One of those review sites that vets the review before it is published:
https://hostadvice.com/hosting-company/h...o-reviews/
I also like Hostpoco’s knowledgebase with very useful articles about everything including a Demo for the free account. The person who set all of this up obviously is gifted with writing good materials as the e-mails of confirmation and information about the account and setup are all impeccably written with loads of info.
https://www.my.hostpoco.com/index.php?rp...eb-Hosting
So everything is true or exceeded my expectations. Uptime is genuine, pricing is genuine, it is genuinely user friendly with a state of the art cpanel and softaculous, support is more than excellent through their chat feature in addition to support through ticket. $1 for upgrading to unlimited hosting with Hostpoco would definitely be worth it for anyone considering a hosting account. More than worth it. I see it as a great deal! For now any way. But looks as though they've been around for a while now (since 2018)
