This is a free market. There are always some other people who care more about CPU reliability than you do.

No worry about the temperature of my little old Intel P4. It is well known that Intel CPUs generally have a higher temperature threshold.

@try4vps Correct, heard from my prof back then that Intel have higher temperature threshold than AMD.

i have AMD in my pc and intel i5 4th gen in my laptop Big Grin

Intel is more resource hungry than AMD. Your computer will heat up very fast and the energy consumption can be seen from that.
Thank you VPSlices and Post4VPS for your beautiful VPS!

Well I agree with you dude, I was playing this certain game and my laptop always got overheat many times!

WRONG,

if that happens you might have a terrible air cooling system,
it's actually quite the opposite story.

i like both of them but i think intel its the best. by the way what about nvidia?
Thank you Post4vps and BladeNode for vps 6!!!

I have an very old Intel P4 PC. I bought it for a long time and I almost forgot about it. But recently when I boot it up again and everything is still working fine.
Do you have an AMD system for comparison? Even AMD systems from that era still works fine today. (Unless you deliberately broke it)

Well, true.

But 5 degrees difference?
You shouldn't be allowing your CPU to hit maximum temperature anyways.

It's a discussion about CPUs.

Yes I did have another similarly-old AMD system, but I could not boot it up since 2 years ago. I just felt it was not worth my time troubleshooting the system and then I gave up.

Well, when we talk about longer-term reliability, a difference of several degrees can affect the actual lifetime a lot.

But yes, all depends on how you use your CPU. If you could ensure you never hit the maximum allowed temperatures, both IBM and AMD CPUs should work fine for you.

I haven't used an AMD processor over 15 years I think. Not since I started using DualCore processors. Also where I live it's very hard to find AMD processors. Everyone ask for Intel so I guess not many sellers want to invest in that brand.
