AMD or Intel now doesn't makes sense because their next processor release with combine Intel+AMD.
now makes it Intel/AMD OR Nvidia
now makes it Intel/AMD OR Nvidia

Well, when we talk about longer-term reliability, a difference of several degrees can affect the actual lifetime a lot.
But yes, all depends on how you use your CPU. If you could ensure you never hit the maximum allowed temperatures, both IBM and AMD CPUs should work fine for you.

If you care about long term reliability, (as said before) you shouldn't let it reach maximum temps. Higher temps and reliability doesn't really add up.
The small difference in temperature shouldn't matter at normal operating temps.
