It depends on how you define "real cash".

In the past, real cash was backed by gold.

But now, cash is actually backed by nothing real. And governments are printing money every year to cover their debts.

So, your cash value actually depreciates over time.

To compare in a fair way, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are also backed by nothing real.

But at least no government can print extra Bitcoins when they want to. Bitcoin has a fixed supply by design.

So, some people believe that Bitcoin will be more valuable than cash. That is why they are willing to exchange cash for Bitcoins.

You do not have to agree with them though. Smile

I thought to revive this topic rather than starting another since there isn't a huge interest in this among members and this topic already has lots of good information. When I started this topic in September 2018, the price of a BIT coin was 7000 USD. Many said that's a max it will rise and soon it will fell beyond salvage. It did fell around 3500 USD in 2019 but after that has never crashed again like that. So today Feb 2021 price of the coin is 48200 USD. Even if you bought for 7k in 2018 today your profits would be crazy high.

Of course, nobody can predict something like this but I guess there are those who believed it and kept their coins. I was looking at other coins which are stable enough to invest and Tron seems to be affordable. It's at 50 cent usd right now I think.

From my POV, Bitcoin is the most bluechip coin. It won't go out of trade since, I guess, Bitcoin is the starter of this cryptocurrency. Therefore investing in Bitcoin really a good deal. We won't know that if in two years you bump this thread again, Bitcoin probably already in 100k or 200k USD.

But yes, since it's already high, it's pretty reasonable to afraid that the price will go down in few months. It may be back to 30k-40k first then sideways then go up again. Gotta watch out the resistance and its support. AFAIK Bitcoin is following its technical analysis pretty well.

Thanks for bringing this interesting topic back. May I know why you are interested in Tron? Any special reason behind that?

I still like Bitcoin the most. But would like to know the reason why some people may come to invest in other coins. Smile

Another coin I could recommend you would be Dogecoin, The coin itself was initially created as a joke, but it actually received backing from Elon Musk and after that Its price went crazy high. (Still in cents, but high in % terms). I've also heard the Monero coin could be the next bitcoin (Its supports claim that), tho I don't really know that much about it to actually recommend it.

I also know about Dogecoin. Although it was started as a joke, actually it is quite a community-supported cryptocurrency with some good history.

I guess because it is still very cheap in price, I would seriously consider to invest in it. Smile

@tryp4vps

Well, Tron is one of the most popular coins under 1 USD which still hasn't reach its potential. It's not something everyone can coin either. It does have quite an influencer team around it. So far it has a good run without any heavy crashes. It's not easy to explain exactly what's special about it but from what I have seen it's one of the few below dollar coins that has a good potential to rise above others.

Oh yes, Dogecoin is another interesting one which is under a dollar. There are few other coins like XRP(0.49 usd), Tether (1 usd), Cardano(1.14 usd), Binance USD (1 usd), etc. Only problem is we can't exactly say which one will rise and which one will fell beyond recovery.

I've also heard of this new coin called "Pi Network", supposedly its something that utilizes network to gain value, and I did try to learn more about it but couldn't really understand it, but alot of people have shared it on Facebook. To me honestly, It looks like an organized scam, but It is backed by stanford graduates. So I am not entirely sure what it is lol.

Not sure about the rest, but I believe if you invest in Tether (1 usd) or Binance USD coin (1 usd) etc, you won't get rich for that.

Because both of them are just stablecoins, which are designed to be pegged to the fiat USD dollar, at a ratio of approximately 1:1. Smile

I hold quite a bit of DOGE, well for me quite a bit though.  Wink It's roughly around $30 now.

Well I got most of it from giveaways and airdrops, when I had accumulated this amount, it was less than $5 and now it's over 6 times thanks to Musk.  Tongue
