Which domain registrar is the cheapest for RENEWAL?
#1
I'm just wondering whether members here who have a large number of domains know of registrars who have either specials for renewal rates or lower cost renewal rates.

Last night I was truly irritated with my Domain Registrar Namecheap.  I received a notification from Namecheap last night where they say I was on Automatic Renewal for X domain and that on 25 July they would be taking the renewal funds from my card.  You wouldn't believe it - they said the renewal rate was 27 US$ for a name.review non-TLD domain. I think Namecheap is slightly cheeky at the domain registration stage to slip in auto renewal - like it was probably ticked somewhere and I missed it initially.  I then last night disabled auto renewal for all of my domains.  Not that it would have been a problem for me as I don't have any of my Visa Cards connected - I only work with PayPal.

Anyway, 27 US$ was much too much.  While I was checking through my domains I decided to renew some of them and then got a surprise.  The renewal price of 27 US$ got discounted to 14.20 US$ for the TLDs and 10US$ for the non-TLDs.  That was last night.  So this morning when I checked some more the rate had all of a sudden changed again.  No mention of 27 US$, just straight 15 US$ renewal for all domains.  Feels as though someone was playing behind the scenes.

I also checked for coupons for renewal of Namecheap domains, but none to be found.

Are there any other Registrars who have cheaper renewal rates?  Or at least some discount coupons?

Iam preferring 1and1.com because they are selling cheap domains

@deanhills AFAIK that depends on the TLDs, renewal price differs from other TLDs, so may we ask what TLD you want to buy?

Right now namecheap is in hands of some crazy owner, they were best but not now, you may check with bigrock and transfer the domain before it expires.

I'm OK with Namecheap for getting new domains. Everything works well with Namecheap. My problem is only with renewal of domains. Something is not so good there at Namecheap so maybe @Littlemaster explained why - crazy new owner. If I can find another good registrar that offers better renewal rates, or at least a promotion coupon for renewal of domains, then I'll definitely start transferring my domains out.

@Littlemaster - do you know where the previous owner of Namecheap went to? For now I'll check out bigrock, and see how it goes when I renew a domain.

Just done a little research about owner of Namecheap. No mention of a new owner, but this is what came up:

This lady was the best at her form before few years ago.

May be I am wrong about change of owner, this lady is missing. She was great with customers. Her absence can be seen in namecheap functions.
You can see about her efforts in https://www.linkedin.com/in/tamarweinber...ce-section
All said things are facts, I sometimes felt this lady has no sleep. She kept talking with customers over twitter and other social medias from namecheap handle.

@Littlemaster Thank you for all of the links. Possibly that is exactly what happened. I think during 2019 when I renew domains I'm going to go radically different. Time for a change. May even go back to Freenom. This morning when I had to change name servers at a host, two were dot.tk domains and two Namecheap domains. DNS of the dot.tk domains propagated much faster than for the Namecheap domains. Maybe Freenom isn't a bad bet either. Think I'll check the paid version of Freenom out as well.

Well I'm with Godaddy and NameSilo. But in process of moving everything to NameSilo from Godaddy since their renewal prices are better. Not a lot but it matters when you have 50-100 domain names. Some of those no-TLDs can be very costly after initial promo prices. Which one is yours ?

Yes. Auto-renew has some downsides too like it could cost high than u do manually where if u get lucky u can find a promo code or something.

Thanks for mentioning Name Silo @xdude.  I'd forgotten about them - I've got one domain with Name Silo I'm planning to drop during 2019, however if the renewal prices are good I may then move some of my Namecheap domains to Name Silo.

So for I have found their renewal prices are good for almost all TLDs and none-TLDs except few not so popular none TLDS. Also if you Deposit 50 then you can get more discounts for domains like from Godaddy Discount club,
