How effective are vaccines for stopping the spread of Covid 19 globally?

I think if you have a responsible Government who vets the vaccines very carefully, then I agree with this. However, if you hear of feedback like blood clots, what would you choose? what happens if you get a stroke?

I think every one has to make the best decision with the information they have in front of them. If there is factual feedback that people are getting blood clots, I'd rather pass on the vaccine. Fortunately that particular vaccine is no longer in use in South Africa. Probably also the reason South Africa is so far behind with vaccinations. To date only 288,406 health workers have been vaccinated out of 1.5 million health workers. And out of a total population of 58 million. It's going to take ages before my turn arrives.

That's why test took in place. I do wonder why Oxford-AstraZeneca's tests don't find any blood clots in their test subject. Therefore it might be possible due to some health issue from one that took vaccine and got blood clots.

Anyway, there is other vaccine that, AFAIK, until now have no serious side effect. I'm not sure though, but I think there is many of them. We will have side effect like headache and it's true since our body are "reacting" to the vaccine. It's just a very common reaction from our bodies.

Thanks @tiwil  I don't have any issues with head aches or mild symptoms.  For me it would be good in a way as it may be an indication one's body is responding to the vaccine.  But the blood clot issue is worrisome.  Also Oxford Astra Zeneca negative symptoms were different in Europe than in South Africa.  I wonder whether the efficacy of the vaccine is greater in England for example, in that the vaccine has so many strict requirements for how it has to be handled that may be a problem for countries outside the UK to follow leading to different results.

Johnson&Johnson instead is a much simpler vaccine that is not temperature reliant so no special refrigeration needed.  Only one dose needed. So I guess it's simpler to use in third world countries with less complications and the results aren't that different from country to country.  I wouldn't be surprised however if it was compared with Oxford Astra Zeneca that Oxford Astra Zeneca when used according to the strict requirements of its creators is a better vaccine to use than Johnson&Johnson. That may also be the reason for stronger immune responses.

Johnson&JOhnson has come to a manufacturing agreement with South Africa to manufacture the vaccine in South Africa.  So once that starts to take off, hopefully rate of vaccination will improve.  For now South Africa hasn't completed 300,000 vaccinations yet.

I am using Homeopathic way of treatment instead of Vaccination and by the grace of ALLAH i am fine and successfully recovered from COVID-19 a month ago. i suffer with this about 15 bad days and will be recovered in 18 day, but still the body weakness is remain after a month.
and all that session i learn more and more about Homeopathic way of treatment and it is just a miracle.
If i got positive response and members who like to learn about it. i open a thread on it because here it will be off topic.
Here i see many cases appears again after Vaccination. so the only way is to eat healthy, boost immune system. and obey SOPs.

Thanks for sharing this @sagher.  I look forward to seeing your new discussion on the homeopathic route you took. You can open that discussion in this section of the Forum as I'm sure it will be read with great interest. I was unaware you had Covid 19, and am happy to hear that you are on the road of recovery.

I hope @rudra is OK, as he was participating in a vaccine trial and after a few weeks just completely vanished from the Forum.  I suspect that he may have got Covid 19 too.

Tonight I heard news that some of the Johnson&Johnson vaccinated medical personnel also developed blood clot reaction.  Same as Oxford Astra Zeneca. So now that's very interesting.   No doubt that is going to create another delay in the vaccinations.

Quote:U.S. recommends "pause" for Johnson and Johnson vaccine over blood clots reports
Cape Town - The US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have recommended a pause to the issuing of the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine over “potentially dangerous'” blood clotting concerns.

South Africa has been administering the J&J vaccine to over 280 000 health workers as part of the Sisonke vaccine study which secured the early use of the vaccine in the country.

According to the Associated Press, the US authorities were investigating clots in six women in the days after vaccination.

Over 6 million doses of the J&J vaccine have been administered in the US already.

It is reported mass vaccination sites in the US will pause the use of the vaccine with more states and centres to follow.

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has previously confirmed South Africa has secured 51 million doses of vaccines from Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer.

South Africa has been receiving batches of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine every two weeks for the mass rollout.

Department of Health chief director Dr Lesley Bamford said last week South Africans would be able to register for vaccination on the electronic portal from April 16.

I just got off of a Zoom call with a Government Official and Dr. Fauci and the J&J (Johnson and Johnson) vaccines are being pulled from public distribution as a precaution. Per the report the vaccine has been showing to cause blood clots in those who have received this option. Dr. Fauci stated that this was done in an over abundance of caution and does not nor should not cause any skepticism in the mRNA variants (Pfizer etc.)

When i concern to a specialist Doctor for my case and even try to know more about new virus SARS-Cov-2, he explained that COVID-19 symptoms are different from SARS-Cov-2, Sars virus is rolled as a pioneer for covid and in this case never necessary to touch any infected person or place. because sars module covid virus in atmosphere and randomly it will go inside via breath. and it is really alarming situation. that's why the cases increases more and more even in my case i take alot of care to clean and safe myself. but still i got infected. but proper medication on proper time get me out from it.

Hot water with Vicks moisture is must important. never miss it even if you are not infected because it help to open all vessels of lungs which not works properly.
Yoga also helps in this case and it is proven that early morning fresh breath is miracle for lungs and throat.
taking of green tea twice a day make you throat and stomach clear.
taking iron, zinc and calcium rich fruits, food and supplements on daily basis.
If anyone have kidney issues. don't take any heavy dose of pain killer or calcium. because it's harm for kidney health so always choose good dissolvable calcium which maximum available in fruits.
One more more important thing. Don't get ride covid on your nerve. always think "no it is a normal seasonal decease and i fight with it and defeat it easily". because many many peoples only dead because they loose hopes. so never think about it. happiness make you strong.

I wish these advices which most based on my own experiences will helps many of here.
May ALLAH protect all of us.

Here, The complaints i dont think are being listened at all. I'm being cautious because honestly there is a huge chaos outside. The place where vaccine are being is so weird no good hygiene or nothing. I'm honestly gonna wait till maybe june or july maybe depending how is the state here because the corona cases have risen up till 5000 cases almost a day and no measures are being taken!

Those symptoms are commons and EXPECTED as the vaccine has to trigger a mild reaction from your immune defenses.. in other words, it's doing its intended work.. But all those various physiological reactions (fever, fatigue, chills, headache, muscle pain, joint pain etc..) are(/must be) all short-lived.
...........................

It's "Sinopharm vaccine". Being honest, I'm not believing the media at all at any point right now. I know these are the symptoms that are to be expected but somewhere different types of symptoms are being noticed among people and they are not being revealed on the media which is scaring people. They have opened up the registration of the vaccine for all ages of people but yet alot less aging from 15-25 have signed up. My relative who is a doctor in UK has adviced to wait for Pfizer or Sputnik Vaccine. I'm gonna think of getting vaccinated but i do not believe my goverment at all in any way!

It is said that the 2nd generation vaccines will become more effective for different Covid-19 variants, and will likely to have lesser side effects.

But it seems it still takes some more time for those 2nd generation vaccines to develop. So, although the current Covid-19 vaccines are far from perfect, it is still better to get vaccinated now for basic protection first, if you feel you need it. Smile

I'm really confused at this stage, Whether i should wait from an international vaccine like PFIZER or Sputnik or not, because the things that i have been hearing are not good at all. I go outside alot getting groceries college and all i'm pretty concerned that i should go for it but on the other hand i'm scared that it could do something or anything..

Ugh.I haven't heard som serious cases here from people's talk and from uncensored media(twitter)  I only got doubts on the effienticy and the "voluntary" vaccining, and one case of losing sex ability. So I think this shall be pretty safe.

And from the situation above, though you have vaccine supply,I suggest delay the vaccation simply for the environment of your vaccination station. And though your government does nothing, you shall follow the protection necessary.

WOW! You guys are up to date, HAHAHA. I open forum to discuss about this data I got from Reddit, and you already get the info.

This is the data I mentioned: https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful...ing_the_jj. It might not be accurate for now since all vaccine pulled from the public.
